Jamorama Review Part 1

If you are learning the guitar, either as a beginner or as a slightly more advanced player, you can appreciate how frustrating it is learning the skills and techniques without seeing any noticeable results. The time and effort that we’ve all put into exercises isn’t being reflected in your standard of playing.

I’m sure you know what I’m talking about here. If you’re trying to teach yourself guitar, then you probably already have a mountain of guitar books and DVDs.. but none of them really make the guitar easier to understand. All they teach you is techniques, songs, and maybe some theory. They don’t put it all together in a way that allows you to really PLAY guitar instead of LEARN guitar.

So this is one of the main reasons why I like Jamorama. It really ties all the information together in a step-by-step course. Once you’ve completed all three sections of the course (beginner, intermediate and advanced) you will definately feel like you can play guitar in any situation.

When Jamorama first came out, it was quite a humble product, which mainly consisted of the three books. But now it has expanded into something more like an internet video course on how to master the guitar. To be honest, it puts most guitar lesson DVDs to shame.

Okay… so what exactly comes with the Jamorama package?

Well, it has the three main course books. Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. (This makes up most of the core learning that you’ll be doing. Everything is supported by video and audio so you always know what you should be doing).

It also has hundreds of individual recordings of song files, which, in total, add up to teach you 50 of the most popular guitar songs. (Some of these are classics, that you’ll be able to play flawlessly after completing this course. You’ll be an instant hit at parties, that’s for sure).

One of the best parts of the way these songs are taught, is how they are broken down into pieces, which means you master each piece of the music before you tackle the whole song. In all my years of playing guitar, I know for a fact that this is the best way to learn something new. (By the way, it’s all tabbed out in the book, if you’re into tab.

Now that makes up a lot of the package. But there’s still something else about this package that I want to tell you about.

With Jamorama, you also get some cool software, which if you use regularly, will REALLY make your guitar playing improve faster than you ever thought possible. And I mean that sincerely.

The piece of software I’m talking about is called GuitEarIt… and as far as I’m concerned, it’s worth the price of admission alone.

So what exactly is it? Basically, it’s ear training software SPECIFICALLY for guitarists. It has many different levels of difficulty, and you work your way up each levelby getting enough of the questions right. It’s actually quite addictive to play. Now listen up: Ear training is one of the easiest ways to improve as a guitarist. I think it’s probably one of the fastest ways of mastering the guitar.

And it really isn’t as hard as it’s made out to be. Back in the old days, everyone used to learn by ear… and it was a long, slow process. But nowadays, with software like this, it puts your learning curve on steriods. A few regular hours set aside for this baby, and you won’t need to rely on tab anymore. You’ll be WRITING the tab, if anything. It really IS that good.

Jamorama Review Part 4

Anyway, I digress… where was I?

Ah yes, there’s some other bonus software with the Jamorama package that I need to tell you about.

Jayde Musica is the other program, which helps you learn notes or something. I didn’t look into this too much to be honest with you. I was too excited by GuitarEarIt. But if learning notes is what gets you going, I’m sure you’ll find this useful. (Learning to read music is worth doing, by the way. Despite how I sometimes talk about it. Especially if you want to get into session work).

There’s also some bonus books with the package. One of them is called “Advanced Learning Techniques for Guitar”. This book I found VERY interesting. It basically details a method of learning guitar without needing one in your hands.

How? Through visualization.

It sounds pretty far out, but it’s a solid, scientifically proven concept. (Perfect for wasting away time in school when you should be working - but hey, you didn’t hear that from me, OK?)

Although I never used this when I was learning to play as a youngster, I have often worked out melodies in my mind, and visualised where to find them on the fretboard. (And I hear Hendrix did a lot of visualizing stuff when he was in his prime… or is that something different?)

Anyway, this special visualizing method is something that will increase your learning speed quite dramatically, so it’s definitely worth reading.

Here’s what Jamorama says about it: “Mental visualization uses the same pathways inside your brain other than the fact you are not performing the activity physically.”

Finally, the last bonus book is a little thing about how to tune your guitar. It details the usual methods, but to be honest with you… it’s just filler. I mean, you know how to tune your guitar, right?

But c’mon, who cares? Jamorama is, in my opinion, quite frankly, totally awesome. I can’t think of a faster, more effective, and more fulfilling way of learning guitar… and can you believe it’s under 50 bucks?

This thing has everything you need to master the guitar. EVERYTHING.

Sure, you can continue your musical education beyond Jamorama… but this thing will take you from beginner to advanced, faster than you would ever think is possible. I sure wish this was around when I started learning. It would have cut my learning curve in HALF, if not more. I’m serious.

By the way, I just heard that Jamorama now even throw in free email consultations to customers who have any questions. ANY questions. Since when did you’re guitar lesson DVD ever pop out the DVD player, and ask if you need help with anything? They’re making this thing better than a personal guitar teacher.

I’d grab this bargain with both hands before it’s gone, if I was you. But hey, it’s your choice. I hope you found this review useful. And I’m sorry if i got a little too excited.
